Tool to file dormant accounts

Filing dormant accounts can feel like an uncertain task, especially if you are unfamiliar with the process or unsure about the requirements. Our online tool simplifies this process, guiding you step-by-step to file your dormant accounts quickly and accurately. Follow this step-by-step guide on how to file your dormant company accounts using our online tool.

Before you start, gather the following necessary information:

  • Company authentication code: This is a 6-digit alphanumeric code that you had received by letter from Companies House shortly after you had incorporated your company. If you have lost it, you can request it to be sent to you through this link.

  • Payment card: This is simply to make a secure payment at the last step. Ensure you use a personal card and not the company's business card (if it already has one) in order to avoid creating a transaction in the company and lose the dormant status.

1. Click 'File Now' on our website

Go to our homepage on www.justdormantaccounts.co.uk and click on any 'File Now' button.

2. Enter company name

On the next page, enter your company name or registration number in the search field and select your company from the drop-down list. Then click the 'Get Started' button. A pop-up box will appear reminding you about the 2 details you need (authentication code and payment card) - click 'OK'.

3. View balance sheet

The next page will display your company's Balance Sheet for the current and prior year (unless it is its first year). The figures are automatically pulled from Companies House so you do not need to enter or adjust anything - just review the figures to ensure they look correct.

4. Confirm statements and status

You will see some disclosures to the Balance Sheet in bullet points, which will be included in the accounts. You will need to confirm that the balance sheet displayed is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge, and confirm that that the company has been dormant for the full financial year, by clicking 'Yes' to both.

5. Enter authentication code

On the next page you will need to enter the company authentication code and click 'Next'.

6. Pay

On the final page, enter your card payment details and email address and then click 'Pay'. All done!

Note:

  • If the payment fails, this is often due to an incorrect authentication code or card details. If this happens, double check the details and try again.

  • If you see a pop-up box saying "The latest accounts have already been filed and cannot be filed again or the first year has not yet passed. You will need to wait until the next accounting year has passed in order to file accounts", then this means your accounting year-end date has not yet passed so you are not able to file yet.
